What is GOTS?The
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile
processing standard for organic fibres, including environmental, human
rights and social criteria, backed up by independent third-party
certification of the entire textile supply chain.
What is Organic 100? The
Organic Content Standard (OCS) applies to any non-food product
containing 95-100 percent organic material. It verifies the presence and
amount of organic material in a final product and tracks the flow of
the raw material from its source to the final product.
OCS allows
for transparent, consistent and comprehensive independent evaluation and
verification of organic material content claims on products.
What is the difference between GOTS and Organic 100?GOTS
(Global Organic Textile Standard) is a more comprehensive standard than
Organic 100 (OCS). GOTS focus is on the entire production process and
includes both environmental and social aspects. Organic 100 primarily
focuses on the raw material content, ensuring a minimum percentage of
organic fibre is used for manufacturing.
What is Organic Cotton? Organic
cotton is grown using methods that have a low impact on the environment
and without the use of synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or
genetically modified seeds. These maintains healthy crops and soil
health whilst minimising environmental impact. Organic cotton is often
grown on small scale farms which tend to use less water and energy. The
fibre is often better too, as organic cotton is often handpicked it
means the fibre will remain softer, longer and stronger resulting in a
more durable fabric.
Why don’t you include the certification numbers on your products? Audits
are typically conducted annually to ensure ongoing compliance with the
standards criteria, whilst some raw material certifications are
production order specific and change regularly. Because of this we often
don’t include certifications and licence numbers within our products.
Transparency and traceability in our supply chain are of the utmost
importance to us, because we care deeply about where our products come
from, the people who make them, and the impact we leave behind.
